Journalists say that photos leaked by a policeman only help Tsarnaev look like a martyr

Photos released by Boston Magazine, depicting the moment when Dzhokhar Tsarnaev gave himself up to police, may only be helping in making him look like a “rockstar” and a martyr.

To those who believe that he is an outlaw, fighting organized society and not an insecure teen swayed into Islamic radicalization, a photo of a bloodied lone Tsarnaev announcing defeat could only romanticize his persona even more.

“Murphy's photographs are far more likely than the Rolling Stone cover to feed their fantasies. As he flops weakly against the boat the blood-spattered youth looks like he is auditioning for a Passion play: he looks like Jesus struggling to Golgotha,” writes Jonathan Jones for the Guardian.

The image posted above, along with several others, was leaked by a policeman who participated in his capture.

As I wrote, it captures the exact moment when he comes out of his hiding place, a boat in Watertown.

The policeman was outraged by a Rolling Stone cover portraying him as a teen idol and decided to share the images, but they may be making Tsarnaev look like a victim.
