As soon as Gas Powered Games releases it

In some sense, all strategy games let you become a "god". You tower well above the battlefield, in immaterial form so that no one sees you and you get to influence the minds of all those below you by issuing left and right click commands. Forget omniscience and omnipresence, omnipotence is what being a "god" is all about. And recently the Black and White series gave us all the possibility to develop as gods, through the use of our powers on our people and our creatures.

Gas Powered Games, the company founded by Chris Taylor, is well known for the way it aimed to revolutionize tactical RTS games with its Supreme Commander. Now, they are changing genres a bit by building what they describe to be an action game with a strong RPG element and with a RTS like battle phase. Their source of inspiration is the very popular Warcraft III mod Defense of the Ancients, which pits heroes teams against one another, while doing away with the base building and resource gathering of the original Warcraft III.

Demigod is the name of the new game and it pretty much explains what is all about. Demigods will be the heroes of the game, huge creatures with awesome powers that will roam the battlefields. Some of them will focus on pure strength, while others will try and overcome their enemies with minions and magic. Every battle will be different and strategies will have to be adapted. A lot of micromanagement of forces is to be expected. Each demigod will evolve in an RPG manner, once he gets experience and kills under his (gigantic) belt.

Although Gas Powered Games says there will be a single player component, the heart of the game will surely become the multiplayer option, where player-created demigods can duke it out for fame and glory. The project is still in development, so check back regularly for updates.
