Information security solutions provider Trustwave revealed its plans to acquire M86 Security, the California-based company that’s been doing an excellent job lately of informing users on the latest threats that may hit their inboxes.

So far there hasn’t been any mention regarding the sum of money Trustwave is prepared to pay for M86, but the acquisition process is expected to be completed in the next few weeks.

“By acquiring M86 Security, Trustwave is adding Web security to one of the industry’s most comprehensive security product portfolios – including our compliance, application, network and data security solutions,” said Robert J. McCullen, CEO and president of Trustwave.

“Customers and partners will benefit from our simplified approach to delivering advanced anti-malware technology through the cloud and our managed services.”

As we’ve clearly witnessed in the past months, M86 Security is more than capable of handling email threats, this being one of the main reasons for which the acquisition will take place.

Besides the web and email security products provided by M86, Trustwave will also gain advanced cloud-based malware detection technology to protect organizations against targeted email attacks.

Both companies have an advanced threat intelligence and security research team and both collectives have proven to be highly capable. However, by combining Trustwave’s penetration testing, incident response and application security expertise with the one of M86 Security Labs, it’s anticipated that the results will exceed any expectations.

Another important gain for Trustwave is represented by the more than 25,000 customers spread out in 93 countries.

“Trustwave has a tremendously successful track record of not only finding, acquiring and integrating security companies but also continuing to innovate their products and technologies,” John Vigouroux, CEO of M86 Security, said.

“Customers and partners have a lot to look forward to as the combination of Trustwave and M86 Security gives them access to a broader, unified security portfolio powered by the industry’s most advanced threat technology intelligence.”
