The industry veteran was named chief marketing officer in the attempt to bring a fresh view to the company's marketing strategies.

Cole will be responsible for devising the new global promoting strategy, but this shouldn't present any difficulties as his 30-year experience in data security and enterprise software merchandising should help him in his new task.

He earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from Syracuse University, but business administration is no stranger to him as he also holds a master's degree in this field from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Most of his career, Cole held a large number of management positions at IBM where he had roles such as, director of Product Management for Enterprise Security Portfolio, director of Strategy for the Systems Management Portfolio and director of Strategic Alliances.

Before coming to Trustwave, he was vice president of Marketing for Guidance Software and just before that he held a vice president of marketing position at Websense. While at Guidance, he helped the company in domains such as the digital forensics, electronic discovery and, of course, marketing.

In his time at Websense, he helped the company expand internationally, while growing from $100 million (€ 75 million) to $350 million (€ 265 million) in revenue.

"Trustwave has built a strong portfolio of solutions to help mitigate the challenges of data security threats, fueling our rapid growth-to-date," revealed Robert J. McCullen, chairman, president and CEO of Trustwave.

"We believe Leo's track record proves his success at creating go-to-market strategies for security companies, which will help Trustwave drive even greater market presence."

Trustwave needs the help as the competition is tight right now in the security industry. While cybercriminals improve their techniques, organization's must also implement efficient solutions that will protect them from losing valuable information and large amounts of money.
