True Software Scandinavia has just announced that its TrueCaller application for Symbian devices has been updated to v2.10. In addition, the developer stated that an important piece of functionality included in this version will be announced in January 2011.

With more than 600,000 users, TrueCaller is one of the most popular Caller ID applications for Symbian handsets.

The application shows users who the caller is almost instantly when a call is received from a number that is not stored in the phonebook.

The developer claims that TrueCaller can identify calls from abroad as well, but only if the number is publicly available. Otherwise, the app will simply display which city or which country the number belongs to.

TrueCaller also includes a Social Caller ID function that shows users their Facebook and LinkedIn contacts’ latest status message and profile picture when they are calling.

The application can even update automatically the phonebook's contacts with information like street, city and zipcode, through the “Update Phonebook” feature.

For users with devices that feature a built-in GPS receiver, TrueCaller has an integrated map functionality which allows them to display the address of the caller on a map, as long as the contact's address is in the phonebook.

The Name and search feature enables users to search among 200 million numbers in more than 25 countries around the world. As long as the information is public, TrueCaller can easily find a name or number.

The TrueCaller for Symbian v2.10 changelog is detailed below:

- Supporting new functionality that will be announced in January 2011;
- Improved number lookup speed;
- Minor UI changes in manual search field;
- Better support for Symbian^3 (Nokia N8, E7, C7);
- Bug fixes;
- Dutch language added;
- Finnish language added.

TrueCaller 2.10 is compatible with Symbian S60 3rd/5th Edition and Symbian^3 handsets and is available as a free download from Softpedia.
