It's a blast right out of a spy or science fiction film

Robots can be a wonderful thing, but most aren't nearly as close to the ideas brought to life in science fiction and spy films.

The world is getting there though. In fact, I have it on good authority that a genuine robotic fly has been created.

And by good authority, I naturally mean the BBC News channel.

A team of scientists from the United States' Harvard University have created a robotic fly made of carbon fiber.

Dr. Kevin Ma from Harvard University and his team, led by Dr. Robert Wood, say they have made the world's smallest flying robot.

It can do pretty much everything a real fly can do, even though the resemblance between the robot and the real thing is debatable.

For example, it can navigate through narrow spaces thanks to the very precise wing movements.
