Kalypso Media has released a fresh trailer showing off the multiplayer feature of their upcoming city building game, Tropico 5.

Unlike the previous games, Tropico 5 allows you to take on the reins of power in the colonial era and then forge a veritable dynasty, going through World War 1 and 2 and then through the Cold War era and up to the near future, taking care that the small island nation keeps its way on the path to glory.

This is the first game in the series where developer Haemimont Games allows players to tackle the business of ruling over a paradise island with an iron fist together, or decide that there is not enough room for two dictators on Tropico and wage war against each other.

As such, up to four players can decide whether they want to forge a socialist utopia worthy of its idealist roots or whether crushing each other until there is only one supreme leader left is the only way to go.

Tropico 5 is currently slated for release on May 23 on PC worldwide, in both digital and retail editions, with the retail edition of the game coming to North American markets on June 3.

The game will also be released on Macs and the Xbox 360 this summer, with the PlayStation 4 version of Tropico 5 scheduled to come out sometime during Autumn 2014.
