Tropico 5, a city building strategy developed by Haemimont Games and published by Kalypso Media, will arrive on Steam for Linux on September 19.

Tropico 5 is one of the last truly complex and interesting city building games that managed to survive. The Tropico franchise has been around for quite some time and now the guys at Haemimont Games have decided to also support the Linux platform.

"Loyal citizens and lovers of Tropico! The Tropican Department of Information has an important message from your beloved ruler El Presidente - Tropico 5 will be released for Mac & Linux on the 19th of September via Steam and the Mac App Store. In just a few weeks, Mac/Linux players can also visit the island paradise of Tropico, where the people don't even have to think for themselves and the burden of voting is kindly relieved by the government," said the developers in the official announcement.

The Steam website hasn't been updated yet with the new information, but we can take a look at what the requirements for Windows OS are (they shouldn't be too far off): 2.5 GHz Quad Core CPU, 8 GB of RAM memory, and GeForce 500 or higher, and AMD Radeon HD 5000 or higher.
