Publisher Kalypso Media has announced that its upcoming simulation and strategy game Tropico 4 will be launched during the second quarter of this year on both the PC, the traditional platform for the series, and on the Xbox 360 home gaming console from Microsoft.

Tropico 4 will again put the player in the tyrannical stylish suits of El Presidente, the ruler of a set of fictional sun bathed islands where he is free to create a society that adheres to his rules completely.

The gamer can choose to be benevolent and create a good living space for his subjects or can take a more radical path and rule with an iron fist, eliminating all those who stand against him while fattening his bank account.

Tropico 4 will see the world around the player evolve as he develops his nation, with a lot more superpowers than just the United States and Russia working on the world stage and competing for the attention of El Presidente.

The game will have a campaign mode which will take gamers through 20 missions built using 10 all new maps, with varying degrees of difficulty and different objectives.

There are 20 new buildings that El Presidente can order to be built, with a new graphics engine that is designed to show off the beauty of the tropics and the lives of the people walking the streets.

A new National Agenda mechanics will see the player get optional missions from both internal factions and outside superpowers, with choices that can nudge the game towards more liberal or more radical outcomes.

The game will also introduce a Council of Ministers, allowing citizens to be appointed to different positions in order for sets of measures to be pushed through and change the laws of the island.

Tropico 4 will also use Facebook and Twitter integration to allow gamers to show off their favorite island situation and compare Dictator ranks.
