Trisquel GNU/Linux, a 100% free operating system which comes with a complete selection of programs that can be easily extended using a graphical installer, is now at version 6.0 LTS.

Trisquel GNU/Linux 6.0 LTS (Toutatis) is based on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) and comes with a few important packages pre-installed: Linux-Libre 3.2, Xorg, Abrowser 19, GNOME 3.4, and LibreOffice 3.5.

The most important change is the new and improved Abrowser, a Firefox derivative that does not recommend non-free software. It has native HTML5 video support (webm, h264 and other formats) that allows the use of websites, such as YouTube, without the need of a flash plugin.

Because it's based on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, the distribution also benefits from extended support that ends in 2017.

“We will no longer publish short term support versions every 6 months, but focus on giving the best possible support to the LTS release, providing backported improvements to core packages like the kernel, the browser and the xorg server among others,” stated the official announcement.
