Dual-SIM smartphones are nothing out of the ordinary, especially in emerging markets. In fact, dual-SIM support has become mandatory in markets such as India and China, but these devices are not so spread in developed markets.

This probably has something to do with the carriers not wanting customers to use dual-SIM smartphones on their networks. Anyway, the latest device launched by LG is a bit on the extreme side.

The so-called LG Optimus L1 II Tri is now available for purchase in Brazil, Phonearena reports. As the name suggests this smartphone features triple-SIM support, which is a bit unusual.

Apart from the fact that it allows users to fit no less than three SIM cards, the Optimus L1 II Tri doesn’t have any features that stand out.

Perhaps the low price might attract more customers looking for an affordable Android smartphone that will allow them fit in more than one SIM card.

LG Optimus L1 II Tri might be the perfect choice for those using three phone numbers. But how many people do that, anyway? For the time being, the handset is only available for purchase in Brazil for only $125 (€90) outright.

Customers will be able to choose from multiple color options, including black, white and pink. It’s been listed at several online retailers, so those who wish to purchase one will only be able to do it online.

Specs-wise, the Optimus L1 II Tri comes equipped with a 1GHz single-core processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

The smartphone sports a 3-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 240 x 320 pixels resolution, while on the back there’s a 2-megapixel photo snapper with video recording.

It’s also worth mentioning that LG Optimus L1 II Tri is powered by a 1540 mAh battery, which will hopefully be enough for the three SIM cards inside.
