Trine 2: Director’s Cut, the upcoming Nintendo Wii U title from Frozenbyte, features an exclusive level called Dwarven Caverns, as well as a wide variety of tweaks and enhancements over the standard edition of the game that was released for a variety of platforms last year.

Among the big Nintendo Wii U launch games is Trine 2: Director’s Cut, a special version of the delightful puzzle platformer that was released by Finnish developer Frozenbyte at the end of last year onto the PC, PS3, or Xbox 360.

Besides the details we heard back at E3 2012, developer Frozenbyte has now revealed to VGB that the game is intended to be the definitive version of the Trine 2 experience that already delighted many players from all around the world.

“We had always wanted to expand the Trine 2 experience further, and when we got the opportunity to make a release for the Wii U, we naturally wanted to do more than just a port – we wanted to be able to show the full vision of our development team. We were also working on the Trine 2 expansion at that time, so it made sense to combine that into it as well and do a a big Trine 2 experience for Wii U,” said Frozenbyte’s Marketing Manager, Mikael Haveri.

What’s more, besides the Goblin Menace DLC that has just appeared onto the PC, the Director’s Cut of Trine 2 also features an exclusive level called Dwarven Caverns.

“We also wanted to have something really cool just for Wii U, so we’re also creating a Wii U exclusive level called the Dwarven Caverns, which is quite different from the other new levels,” Haveri added.

The marketing manager also revealed that many different enhancements have been made to the original version of the game, so Wii U owners are in for a great experience.

“Most of the improvements are cosmetic, the playability has been smoothened and stability increased. Most of these come from the PC version that we have been updating on a regular basis ever since the launch. We’ve added new minor things, fixed bugs, and made a lot of small improvements. Trine 2 on Wii U will be even closer to absolute perfection than it already was.”

Trine 2: Director’s Cut will be available at the Wii U’s launch this November as a digital download via the platform’s eShop.
