Trident Microsystems announced that ViewSonic is using Trident's SVP EX ten-bit video processor that features the Digital Cinema Reality Engine (DCRe) to power its N3260W, N3760W, and N4060W LCD TVs for the European market. The company states that the models are now in mass production.

The SVP EX family features Trident's Digital Cinema Reality Engine, DCRe. DCRe video processing delivers optimal video fidelity to offer consumers compelling, cinema-like video images. DCRe includes triple, ten-bit ADC to dramatically reduce visible video signal conversion artifacts, ten-bit, 3D color decoder to eliminate annoying "false color" artifacts and improve overall contrast, ten-bit, dual-channel, 1080i motion-adaptive de-interlacer to provide cinema-like motion video quality from any type of video source material.

Also, it has a ten-bit, dual-channel scaler to ensure crisp images regardless of the display resolution, ten-bit, dual-channel color processor with blue-stretch, green-stretch, skin-color correction, as well as white-balance control to offer vivid, bright colors previously available only in the most sophisticated internally-developed designs of consumer electronics OEMs.

The ten-bit display interface supports today's most advanced flat displays while the advanced content-adaptive 3D noise reduction to dramatically decrease the popping and crackling that is especially prevalent on today's LCD TVs. The enhanced horizontal and vertical controls set a new level in sharpness for advanced TVs. Moreover, the programmable LCD overdrives to eliminate the blurring of fast-moving objects that is common to many LCD displays.

SVP EX family's integrated VBI slicer and V-chip/closed-caption/teletext accelerator supports worldwide TV data and messaging needs and the full-screen, 16-bit, bit-mapped OSD powered by a 2D-graphics accelerator enables beautiful, intuitive, windows-based UI (User Interfaces) that enhance the functionality of advanced TVs.

"We are very impressed by the SVP EX's video quality, high level of integration, and comprehensive support for all European television standards," said President and Managing Director of ViewSonic Europe Jan Jensen. "The European market is a key segment for ViewSonic, with very demanding customers expecting for LCD TVs the same image performance that has made the reputation of ViewSonic on the display market. The SVP EX's outstanding decoder quality, ten-bit processing, and uncompromising HDTV picture quality make our new LCD TV's an ideal fit for this competitive market."
