Following the release of Lumia Cyan, the platform upgrade that brings the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system to Nokia Lumia handsets out there, more Nokia applications available in beta versions until now are being killed.

Earlier today, we have reportedly on the Device Hub beta app being terminated in the Nokia Beta Labs, though the application has been included in the Lumia Cyan upgrade in a stable flavor.

Now, Nokia’s team of developers announces that the trial for Storage Check, another app long available in a beta state for Lumia devices, has been concluded.

Owners of Lumia smartphones who received the new Lumia Cyan with Windows Phone 8.1 update will see that their devices now feature Storage Sense, an app that includes the same features as Storage Check does, and some additional ones.

“With Storage Sense you can check your storage space (both phone and SD card) and free up space by moving apps and games to your SD card (if you have one), uninstall apps, or delete downloaded files,” a post on the Nokia Beta Labs Blog reads.

All owners of Windows Phone 8-based Nokia Lumia smartphones will receive the Storage Sense feature as part of the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system upgrade.

The update has already started to arrive on smartphones around the world, with Nokia Lumia 1320 being the latest to have received it, and should reach more of them in the not-too-distant future.

The Lumia Storage Check beta application, however, is incompatible with the new Windows Phone 8.1 OS version. The aforementioned blog post also notes that the software does not report correct numbers for apps.

However, it seems that the beta version of Storage Check will remain available, due to the fact that Maps data will be stored on phone memory by default. Thus, users will be able to change back to using phone memory without having to perform a full device reset.

“We hope that Lumia Storage Check has been serving you well and we wish to thank those that have been using the beta and providing feedback,” the aforementioned blog post reads.

“Your help was essential in ironing out the bug that was preventing the app from working for some people, and you provided good input on using Maps on the SD card.”

Since the Lumia Storage Check beta trial at Nokia Beta Labs has been concluded, the feedback forum for the application will be archived, the development team also announces.
