One of the major new features of the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is the new Create-a-Class concept linked to the multiplayer mode and the development team at Treyarch has offered some information on how the progression system will work when the game is launched.

The information comes from David Vonderhaar, who is a game design director working on the Black Ops 2, and he also revealed that the team estimated that the amount of experience required to get to level 55, the cap, was similar to what players had seen in the first Black Ops.

At level four, gamers will get access to the Create-a-Class feature and they will instantly get the following items to use:

1 Assault Rifle 1 SMG 1 LMG 1 Shotgun 1 Sniper Rifle 1 Perk from each of the 3 perk categories 1 lethal grenade 1 tactical grenade/equipment

The leveling system then goes up to level 10 using the following rewards:

Level 5: Perk Level 6: Equipment Level 7: Scorestreak (3 free and 3 optional ones to unlock with tokens) Level 8: Perk Level 9: Scorestreak

The patterns will continue to the higher levels and every three levels those who play Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will get access to a special option, like a new gun to play with or a perk that seems more powerful than their level should have.

The Create-a-Class feature is designed to allow players to create their own character and play around with the options until they get a mix that they are comfortable with and they can efficiently use on the battlefield.

The multiplayer side of the Call of Duty series is what sustains its impressive sales and popularity and Treyarch needs to make sure that they keep standards up in Black Ops 2.

The game will be launched on PC, home consoles and mobiles on November 13.
