It seems that powerline AV networking has been getting better and better recently, to the point where Trendnet was able to create a certain device that can meet the needs of users for whom WiFi and in-wall networking are not options.

Powerline networking may have been on the lower spectrum in terms of performance for most of its early days, but this does not seem to be the case any longer.

Apparently, Trendnet has created a certain electronic, known as TPL-401E, which can deliver a bandwidth of up to 500 Mbps.

All that end-users need do is plug it inside an electrical outlet and connect another one to a router and the network is set up.

“Despite early announcements from competing brands, TRENDnet is excited to be the first brand to actually launch these exciting new 500Mbps Powerline solutions to the market,” stated Pei Huang, President and CEO of TRENDnet.

“This caps a tremendous year for TRENDnet; marked by: our 20th year anniversary, launching the first 450Mbps wireless router, and now being first to market with 500Mbps Powerline solutions,” Huang added.

The adapter has several assets that enhance its usability and convenience beyond just the 500 Mbps transfer speeds.

For one, it comes with LED indicators to show the status of the network, though the real advantage is the 128-bit AES encryption.

“This adapter is ideal for use in buildings that interfere with wireless networking signals,” states the official announcement.

Consumers will be able to buy the product either stand-alone or in a dual adapter kit dubbed TPL-401E2K.

Essentially just a pair of 500 Mbps powerline AV adapters, said kit can act the part of a starter kit for one device.

Shipments are scheduled to commence on November 29, with prices of $99.99 for the single adapter and $179.99 for the dual kit.
