IT security solutions provider Trend Micro has signed an agreement with cloud and virtualization software company VMware. The two will join forces in an effort to secure next-generation virtualized data centers.

As part of the deal, VMware’s NSX network virtualization platform will integrate Trend Micro’s Deep Security, a comprehensive server security platform that includes anti-malware, integrity monitoring, intrusion prevention, and log inspection capabilities.

The result is an advanced security framework that increases protection and automates security deployments in virtualized data centers.

“As VMWare launches its next-generation VMware NSX' network virtualization platform, Trend Micro is excited to work alongside to create a comprehensive security backbone that protects the data center of the future,” said Trend Micro’s Kevin Simzer.

“This relationship will help simplify and automate how security is deployed, delivering reliable protection that easily scales to the needs of each customer,” added Simzer, who is senior vice president of marketing and business development at Trend Micro.

The two companies aim at creating the software-defined data center, which maximizes all the resources necessary to host an application.

“When we developed VMware NSX', we recognized customers have made huge investments in security infrastructure. We developed VMware NSX as an extensible platform that leverages a distributed service framework for easy insertion of partner services such as those offered by Trend Micro,” noted Hatem Naguib, vice president of Cloud Networking and Security at VMware.

“Through this integration, our joint customers can realize the promise of VMware NSX itself - better, faster and more secure IT services.”

Integration between VMware NSX and Trend Micro’s Deep Security is being demonstrated these days at VMworld 2013.
