Trend Micro has published an interesting paper called “Brazil, Cybersecurity Challenges Faced by a Fast-Growing Market Economy.” The report analyzes spam, malware, and the growth of the Brazilian underground market.

According to researchers, the country has witnessed a dramatic increase in cybercrime over the past period.

As far as spam is concerned, the country is responsible for the largest number of spammed messages in Latin America, 38% of malicious emails originating from Brazil.

In addition, the country also hosts a large number of malicious URLs, command and control servers, and compromised computers.

When it comes to the criminal underground, most malicious activities revolve around the theft and monetization of personal and financial information. Local hacker forums are full of credit card information exchanges, hosting services, phishing kits, and other similar services.

The complete report is available on Trend Micro’s website.
