Portable data storage solutions have become extremely popular nowadays, considering the fact that the amounts of data we have to carry around with us on a daily basis are significantly larger now than they were in the past. After we've showed you yesterday the portable HDD from Iomega, now it's time to take a look a yet another device of this type, namely the DataStation pocket t.ub from Trekstor, an interesting portable data storage solution aimed especially at notebook users, which provides 250 GB of storage space in a very sleek and thin external casing.

The DataStation pocket t.ub has a black aluminum outer shell that helps the device remain cool at all times. Moreover, even if the cooling system is an efficient one, it's also very silent which means that the users won't have to worry about the drive growling and moaning while transferring data.

As mentioned earlier, the portable data storage solution offers 250 GB of storage space, provided by a 2.5-inch HDD. The drive has some pretty impressive specs, as it can attain data transfer speeds (read/write) of up to 25.6 MB/s / 17.1 MB/s, has an average access time of around 20.1 ms, rotates at around 5400 RPM and sports an 8 MB buffer.

The device also offers a very interesting connectivity method, namely Trekstor's proprietary Y-shaped USB cable, which allows the drive to plug into two USB ports at once to prevent a single USB interface from becoming a bottleneck. Moreover, the DataStation pocket t.ub comes with the Nero BackItUp 2 complete software solution for backup, which allows it to carry out fast backup operations at the touch of a button (it also supports on the fly compression).

The DataStation pocket t.ub from Trekstor ships with its own protective case and will retail for around 250 US dollars (just $1 per GB, as most of the other portable HDDs on the market).

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
