The parents of slain teen Trayvon Martin have spoken out about the shooter's acquittal for the very first time. They confessed to feeling disgusted and let down by the jury's decision.

"My first thought was shock, disgust," mother Sybrina Fulton says.

"We didn't feel it was fair and, of course, it was devastating," distraught father Tracy Martin adds.

According to ABC News, they believed that their son was truly scared by George Zimmerman, whom he had described as “creepy.”

The 17-year-old was not armed when he was fatally shot by Zimmerman, in what the latter described as an act of self-defense.

The acquittal has prompted protests in different forms, including the posting of a photo of Martin Luther King dressed in a hoodie.
