Double Layer burning has become popular because a single DL DVD can store over 8 GB of data. DL DVD discs are compatible with many DVD burners, but the burned DVD DL media may have compatibility issues with some DVD drives, a problem caused by manufacturers.

Despite
these glitches, that will probably be arranged after the Blu-Ray/HD DVD war ends, companies like Traxdata launch new optical media to suit the market.

Thus, the company announced the launch of the Traxdata DVD R Double Layer (DL) 8X media. The company claims that this is the world's fastest DL media that enables the recording of 8.5 GB of data or video in around 16 minutes.

The new disc is said to ensure compatibility with most popular DVD-ROM and DVD R DL drives, DVD based video players and game consoles. The innovations in technology optimized the dye and recording, reflective and bonding layers.

Traxdata DVD R Double Layer (DL) 8X has received the Philips certification, claiming it assures quality for consumers. It will be available in Jewel Case and Cake box packaging from many European retailers and resellers.
