A picture of a woman who went under a transplant procedure is going viral. The woman, only identified as Penny, beat cancer and underwent dangerous heart surgery.
She wanted to celebrate the fact that she is still alive with an unusual photo.
“[Penny] is holding her own heart. She has survived cancer and crippling heart failure and never lost hope,” wrote her friend Kelsey, who uploaded the shot on Imgur.
Penny only had a chance to immortalize the moment, as the organ was scheduled for cremation. She put on a medical mask, bravely picked up the heart and posed for a photo op.
"She wanted to keep it but they wouldn't let her! I said the same thing. It had to be cremated but she kept the ashes," Kelsey adds, according to the
Daily Post.
