Transmission Updated to 1.90 for Mac OS X

Transmission 1.90 final was released this week. With the release of Transmission 1.80 final, developers added support for magnet links, and trackerless torrents. Version 1.90 now adds display information for all selected transfers in the inspector's tracker and peer tabs, a filter to the message log, small interface tweaks, and more.

Transmission is a BitTorrent client similar to the popular Vuze. The peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing application has select code licensed under the liberal MIT License, but is generally licensed under the GNU General Public License. The program boasts a simple, intuitive interface designed to integrate tightly with any OS. Transmission is a Universal Binary, suitable for both Intel and PowerPC Macs.

Transmission runs natively on Mac OS X, seamlessly configuring your network, banning peers who send corrupted data intelligently, using protocol encryption and built-in Peer Exchange. It also allows you to efficiently ration commodity, only slowing down your system when you actually focus on it.

The release notes for Transmission 1.90, as noted above, reveal that display information for all selected transfers is now available in the inspector's tracker and peer tabs. Alongside this enhancement, developers also added a filter to the message log, and enabled Transmission to remove excessive file selection for the per-torrent action menu. Skipping the non-detailed UI tweaks, those who maintain Transmission mention two bugs, which they were able to fix in this release. One would lead to a potential crash when updating the blocklist, the changelog says. The other, a little less serious, caused the speed-limit scheduler to not be applied after sleep. Both are said to be addressed in Transmission 1.90.
