Transmission has just been updated to version 1.20, featuring support for resetting global statistics, the ability to IP block using the Bluetack Level1 blocklist, updated Dock badge images and improved support for multitracker torrents. Transmission 1.20 is a free download.

Transmission runs natively on Mac OS X, seamlessly configuring your network, banning peers who send corrupted data intelligently, using protocol encryption and built in Peer Exchange. Everything is done in the background while users needn't worry about manipulating settings.

So, let's see what Eric Petit says about his newly updated client. First of all, Transmission 1.2 adds support for http tracker connections, IP blocking using the Bluetack Level1 blocklist, multitracker torrents, faster UPnP port mapping on startup and the ability to reset global statistics as far as All Platforms platforms go. Various bugfixes are also in order, according to the release notes that can be found right here, in full.

However, the Mac version of the software adds even more features like the fact that the display of decimal numbers matches system international settings and updated Dock badge images.

Whether you want to queue your torrents for maximum performance or throttle their speed during peak periods, Transmission lets you do both; it also allows you to ration commodity efficiently, according to the developer. So basically, it only slows down your system when you actually focus on it, meaning that your other work won't be affected, since your focus is Transmission.

Built from the ground up to be a lightweight, yet powerful BitTorrent client, it sports a simple, intuitive interface designed to integrate tightly with any OS. The developer assures us that it provides balance when delivering useful functionality without feature bloat.

Transmission is open source. Most of the code is licensed under the GNU General Public License with select code licensed under the liberal MIT License. Click HERE to download the latest version of Transmission.
