Supergiant Games has confirmed that it's going to debut Transistor, its upcoming isometric brawler, onto the PC and PS4 on May 20, and even shared a few more details about the PS4 edition of the title and how it uses the DualShock 4 controller.

Transistor is the next big project from Supergiant Games, the independent studio that amazed lots of gamers with Bastion, a unique isometric brawler with a dynamic narrator and a vibrant visual style, not to mention a stunning soundtrack.

The studio used its profits to create the next title, Transistor, which is a completely new experience that focuses on a female protagonist called Red. She uncovers a mysterious weapon and must use it in isometric battles against all sorts of foes.

The studio has already shared some footage and shots with the game and has just confirmed on the PS blog that Transistor will debut on May 20 for PC and PS4.

The PS4 edition will run at a native full HD 1080p resolution and it will use the DualShock 4's lightbar and speaker to create a more personalized experience.

"Some months ago I also told you a little about how we’re using DualShock 4′s light bar in sync with the voiceover in the game. At the end I hinted we were also looking into using the controller’s built-in speaker," Supergiant's Greg Kasavin said.

"Turns out it works great, so we’re pleased to offer a Controller Speaker option for a more personal feel. With the light bar and controller speaker working in unison, DualShock 4 becomes a direct analog for Red’s mysterious, talkative weapon. We think this is a unique way of playing through the game, and we hope players will enjoy it."

What's more, Kasavin has also confirmed that Transistor has a full set of 30 trophies, including a Platinum one, which is unlocked for players who complete all the challenges in the game.

According to the studio, these achievements motivate them to explore everything the title has to offer, so expect some mysterious ones dealing with features that have yet to be revealed.

"Our philosophy around Trophy design is we want players to discover the breadth, depth, and content of the game, and feel rewarded for it. Some of our Trophies concern hidden aspects of the game that we’ve purposely said nothing about, so we encourage you to discover these for yourself as you play! Though if you want look them all up and aren’t worried about spoiling bits of it for yourself, that’s cool too."

Transistor is already available for pre-purchase on the PC, via Steam, and on PS4 via the PS Store in North America at least.
