Developer Jagex has just unveiled the first two of the automatons in its upcoming motorized multiplayer battle arena game Transformers Universe.

The first introduced warrior from Transformers Universe is Meltdown, an Autobot that despises conflict and functions as a battle-hardened medic, adept at both mending his allies' wounds as well as inflicting them on his adversaries. He can support his comrades in the heat of battle, protecting them from harm, while at the same time shelling out damage to the ignoble Decepticons.

The second motorized space-farer is Duststorm, an automaton with a deadly arsenal of weaponry that is adept at keeping even the most armored opponents at bay. Duststorm's sniper rifle can easily blast her opponents from the playing field before they even know what hit them.

Jagex informed that each robot would come with its own weaponry and augment options, specialties and specific playstyles, and that the game will offer a wide range of strategic options.

Although Transformers Universe initially started development as an action MMO, it gradually evolved into an arena-centric game, its third-person perspective and emphasis on action promising to deliver an involved and fast-paced gaming experience.

Transformers Universe's launch is scheduled for sometime during the summer of 2014, with more information available on its official site.
