Transcend and Trend Micro have jointly announced today the launch of a new portable storage solution that has been designed to help computer users transfer, share and store digital files in a more secure manner. The new JetFlash V15 comes as a new USB flash drive that offers a built-in Trend Micro USB Security software, specifically designed to protect the data drive and the stored digital content, from the first moment the USB stick is plugged into the computer. According to both companies, the solution has been designed to combat a rising number of Autorun malware infections.

“Our USB Security software paired with Transcend’s USB flash drive makes it easy for consumers to add another layer of powerful protection against Internet threats and viruses that could harm their irreplaceable data and files,” said Carol Carpenter, vice president of consumer marketing. “We’re pleased to be able to team with Transcend in delivering smart, easy-to-use security so consumers can enjoy online activities with peace of mind.”

Since their debut, USB Flash drives have become an everyday commodity for computer users worldwide, providing an accessible means to store, share and manage digital content. Due to their form factors, these drives can easily be carried around and enable the user to share files with a number of computer systems. The new solution announced by Trend Micro and Transcend addresses the critical issue of data security with an integrated USB Security application.

According to Trend Micro, the JetFlash V15 will immediately protect the user's data, since the first moment it has been plugged into a computer. In addition, once it's plugged in, the security application connects to the Internet and downloads and installs the latest security updates directly on the drive.

Unfortunately, details regarding the drive's pricing and availability haven't been revealed, but you should take into account that the Trend Micro USB Security is made available with a full-featured 90-day trial.
