Transcend has once again built on its name as worldwide purveyor of various storage products, having put together a new series of flash drive units featuring a storage capacity of up to 16 GB.

As always, storage devices are coming out all the time, so it is not all that shocking to hear that Transcend joined in on the fun, again.

In fact, considering the rate at which both HDDs and NAND Flash-based products get made and sold, it would have been strange if a long time had passed without the company doing something.

Granted, it was not too long ago that Transcend made a move, though it consisted more of an accessory (card reader) than an outright storage unit.

Now, the outfit definitely did walk straight into the field of storage, creating a new flash drive line part of its JetFlash family.

Dubbed JetFlash T3S, it does not possess the most recent iteration of the Universal Serial Bus standard.

Skipping the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 technology in favor of smaller price points, the T3S have reading and write speeds of up to 18 MB/s and 5 MB/s, respectively.

For more capacious models, USB 3.0 would have definitely been very convenient, if not necessary, but these smaller marks means that USB 2.0 can take care of things well enough on its own.

For those that want precise numbers, they feature capacities of 4 GB, 8 GB and 16 GB, read data at 15 MB/s (18 MB/s for the 16 GB one) and write it at 5 MB/s (4 MB/s for the 4 GB drive).

As a final asset, Transcend implemented the COB (Chip-on-Board) technology, which is why the JetFlash T3S get away with such a small, compact package (29.35 x 12.3 x 3.05 mm).

Prospective purchasers will need to be willing to part with 9.90 Euro (4 GB), 14.90 Euro (8 GB) or 24.90 Euro (16 GB).
