Transcend has just updated its product portfolio with the release of a new MLC-based Solid State Drive and new 4GB DDR3 memory kits, as part of the company's aXeRAM. These new products are designed to provide technology enthusiasts with a high-performance alternative to the current SSDs and DDR3 memory modules on the market.

The new MLC-based SSD has been designed with a 2.5-inch form factor, making it an ideal upgrade alternative for high-performance portable computer systems. The new drives provide a large 192GB of storage space, also offering a high-level of performance at sustained read and write speeds of 150MB/s and 90MB/s, respectively. Additional features include a latency of 0.2ms, enabling users to take advantage of better boot times and enhanced overall performance.

Transcend also announced that the new SSDs are available in both SATA II and IDE interfaces, offering capacities of 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, 128GB. Price wise, the new SSDs can be ordered from the company's website for US$614.

In addition to the new high-capacity 192GB MLC-based SSD, Transcend has also introduced a new 4GB aXeRAM DDR3-1800 memory upgrade kit, providing support for today's high-performance desktop computer rigs. These new memory modules have been designed to support Intel's Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) technology, offering a memory bandwidth of up to 28.8GB/s. Built as an alternative to current overclocking memory products, the new Transcend DDR3-1800 dual-channel kits boast a latency of 8-8-8-24 and are designed to work at a voltage of 1.8V.

As with the newly announced SSDs, Transcend's 4GB aXeRAM DDR3 memory kits are available for purchase via the company's website, for US$196.

Given the specifications, but also the price tag of Transcend's new SSD and DDR3 products, the company is clearly targeting the high-performance market.
