Although 16 GB were considered up until recently high-end as far as USB flash drives were concerned, it would seem that this value might become commonplace, since several manufacturers are beginning to roll out such products. And the latest announcement of this type comes from Transcend, who recently upgraded its V10 line, after a similar announcement regarding the
V60 family.
A part of Transcend's popular JetFlash Value Series, the device has a special capless design that includes a retractable USB connector with lock-switch, which makes the drive easier to use and protects the connector from damage when not in use. Furthermore, this is something that could really come in handy, especially for those users who have the tendency of being a bit "rough" with their drives.
Much in the same way as all of the other recently-launched flash-based portable storage solutions from Transcend, the V10 allows users to run the JetFlash elite software suite directly from the drive, thus granting them access to a wide range of applications. Thus, there's the Website AutoLogin, used for automatically logging-in to online accounts, PC Lock (for locking one's computer), Mobile Favorites (for browsing one's favorite websites from any computer), Secret-Zip (for compressing and password-protecting files using powerful 256-bit AES Encryption) and many more.
The JetFlash V10 is not necessarily the smallest drive I've ever seen, but it's petite enough, measuring 64 x 21 x 10 mm and weighing only 11grams. For extra convenience, the V10 features a lanyard / keychain attachment loop to prevent loss and make it easier to plug in and remove from a computer's USB port.
Unfortunately, no pricing details are available for the time being, but since none of Transcend's products are overpriced, it's very likely that the 16-GB V10 won't be either.
