Network-attached storage devices are usually big boxes holding one or more HDDs and linked to a network via an Ethernet cable of some sort. That makes Transcend's StoreJet Cloud wireless SSD an exception.

Though it is a solid-state drive with the size and shape of a smartphone, the new product, with a capacity of 128 GB, qualifies as a NAS because of its Wi-Fi support (wireless connectivity) and support for basic network hub features.

Smartphone/tablet apps from Google Play or Apple App Store can be used to control the unit.

Meanwhile, a Li-polymer battery keeps the product operational and connected to up to five clients (50 Mbps over 802.11 b/g/n) for up to 6 hours. After that, it needs to be recharged via USB 2.0/1.1.

The price of the 128 GB Transcend StoreJet Cloud wireless SSD is $150 / 117-150 Euro.
