Those who thought Transcend was done for the month when it released the JetFlash T3S Flash Drives were gravely mistaken, as the same company has stepped for to provide some platter spinners as well.

Not long ago, Transcend entered the spotlight and released a series of USB flash drive units, bereft of the advantages of USB 3.0, though cheaper than other items of their type.

With that to cover the area of very easy to carry and hide storage solutions, the same company has now said its piece on the portable HDD segment.

Though originally just internal PC components, HDDs followed the ways of the times and ended up branching out into USB-connected and eSATA-equipped ones, some even featuring FireWire connectivity.

In this particular instance, it is the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 technology that has been adopted as well. It is the latest version of the interface to be released, though it might not stay so for long.

Two HDD series of sorts were provided, both part of the StoreJet collection. Their names are 25A3 and 25A2, only the former featuring support for the above mentioned fast connection.

The available storage capacities are of 500 GB, 750 GB and 1 TB, respectively, and the USB 3.0 will let data transfers be accomplished at 90 MB/s (the 25A2 has to make do with 25-30 MB/s).

Transcend chose a black shell for the products, with an unassuming white pattern made of overlapping circles.

Furthermore, it threw in some extras, like the One Touch Auto-Backup button (fairly self-explanatory that one) and a built-in suspension damper system, for absorbing shocks.

On this last feature, one can note that, regardless of how careful consumers are, sometimes accidents just happen, so the extra durability to shakes or bumps is definitely welcome.

All in all, the un-priced newcomers measure 130.6 x 80.1 x 15 mm and have a weight of 182 grams each. They are bundled with data security and recovery software.
