Not too long ago, Transcend made its entry on the SDXC market in force, by unleashing a Class 10, 64GB memory card aimed at professionals. Now, the same company seems bent on keeping the inflow of such Flash-based storage solutions steady. As such, it decided to bring out not just one or two, but several new memory cards, including a Class 10-certified Ultimate Series product. They should meet the needs of any photographer, professional or amateur alike.

Over the past months, a lot of hype was generated around the Class 10 certification. Basically, memory cards that earned that title were, and are, known as part of the elite. One of their most noteworthy features was their ability to take high-speed, continuous shots, or even record Full HD videos (1920 x 1080 pixel resolution). Transcend only unveiled one such SDHC card now, whose storage capacity if of 32 GB and which can operate at 20 MB/s. It is part of the Ultimate series and will definitely serve well in any point-to-shoot camera.

The other four SDHC cards bear Class 4 rating, have storage spaces of 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB, respectively, and can function at 13 MB/s. Obviously, they aim to strike a balance between performance and affordability, unlike the Class 10, which focuses on performance above all else. Nevertheless, all newcomers are alike in the way that they share the same array of reliability and endurance features. A built-in, mechanical write-protection switch is present, as is Error Correcting Code (ECC).

The 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB Class 4 Transcend cards have prices of $13.22, $22.84, $41.05 and $80.57, respectively. Furthermore, the Class 10 Ultimate series 32GB model has a price tag of $129. Finally, they are all accompanied by their maker's lifetime warranty and can be seen in detail on the company's website.
