Although most professional photographers would rather pack several 4 GB CF memory cards than a single, large capacity model (for fear of possible breakdowns), the most important manufacturers of such storage products keep pumping larger and larger versions on the market, probably in a competition among themselves rather than for the customers' money.
So, after you've read about Pretec's amazing 48 GB CompactFlash a while back, it's now the time to take a look at Transcend's latest offering in this field, namely the 32GB 133X CompactFlash Card.

Touted at the company's largest-ever storage solution of this type, the CF card is capable of achieving read/write speeds of up to 45MB/16MB per second on average, which makes them especially suitable for consecutive shooting recording with today's high-performance digital single lens reflex cameras (DSLR). Furthermore, the 32 GB provides just about all the storage space one might require, as it is quite enough for roughly 6528 photos at 10 MP or 36400 pictures at 2MP.

It's also important to mention that, according to the company's statement, this CF type I supports IDE PIO mode 6 and Ultra DMA mode 4. This means that the device theoretically supports transfer speeds of up to 25 MB/s (in IDE PIO mode 6 mode) and up to 66.7 MB/s in Ultra DMA mode 4, despite of the fact that, as expected, the actual values are a bit lower. The new card also provides a relatively low level of power consumption, multi-platform compatibility and is compliant with the latest CompactFlash standard, version 4.1.

Aside from the new extra-large 32GB version, Transcend's high-speed 133X CF cards are also available in 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, 8GB and 16GB capacities. Unfortunately, the company has not provided any pricing information related to the new card, but since the 16 GB version sells for around 108 US dollars, you should probably expect a $200 price tag (give or take a few bucks).
