One has a slider, the other has a water-resistant one-piece form and gold/silver plating

You'd think that, when making a new pair of products, the stronger one would also be designed with the most style and physical perks as well, but that's not what happened with the new Transcend JetFlash flash drives.

Instead, the company designed the newcomers in such a way that they both have the same price, even though their transfer speeds differ and their capacity is the same.

First off, the company has introduced the JetFlash 770, a USB 3.0 drive with a slide-out mechanism that only pushes out the USB port when the drive needs to be used.

This item can hold up to 16,000 MP3 songs (4 min per son, 128 Kbps quality), 30,000 images (2 MB JPG) and over 23 hours of DVD quality video (2.25 GB per hour).

Also, in addition to storing things the Transcend JetFlash 770 is well suited for backup, sharing, transfer from one PC to another, etc. As for the data transfer, it can reach 80 MB/s.

The JetFlash 520, from a specifications standpoint, is inferior simply because, while it shares most of the above traits, it uses USB 2.0 instead of 3.0.

Nevertheless, it has its own advantages, like a rugged one-piece, compact design (water-, shock- and vibration-resistant), a built-in keychain loop, and a bundled leather strap.

The JetFlash 520 is actually part of Transcend's “Luxury” series, clad in silver or 24-karat gold, astonishing though it sounds. It really makes one wonder why the company didn't go that final step and toss in USB 3.0 too.

After all, the JetFlash shares all the other traits anyway, in a smaller body, down to the capacity.

Speaking of which, both the JetFlash 770 and JetFlash 520 come with 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB, in addition to the 64 GB options which cost $69 / €69 for both the USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 drives. All storage sticks ship with a free download of the exclusive Transcend Elite data management software (256-bit AES file encryption, intelligent backup scheduling, etc.).
