Transcend Information and TwinMOS Technologies have both launched 4GB and 8GB secure digital high-capacity (SDHC) cards, according to Digitimes. Transcend said that the SD card is the most popular flash memory standard in the world now, and that SDHC is the next generation of SD cards (Version 2.0). Formatted in FAT32, SDHC cards can have a capacity of 32GB, and can fulfill the high-capacity demand of new SDHC devices such as the Casio Exilim Z1000/Z600/S600 cameras, Panasonic DMC-L1 camera, and HP printer A/B, according to the company.

Transcend said its new memory cards are fully compatible with the SD 2.0 standard, and the mechanical write protection switch of its SDHC cards keeps information safe by preventing accidental deletion or writing over important data. Here are some features: Fully compatible with the SD 2.0 Standard; 4GB and 8GB High Capacity; Supports Error Correcting Code (ECC) to detect and correct errors; Supports In System Programming (ISP) to load firmware; Supports power down and sleep modes; Mechanical Write Protection Switch; Original NAND Flash Chip; Lifetime Warranty;

TwinMOS declared its 8GB and 4GB SDHC cards support not only SD2.0 specifications, but are also compatible with SD1.1 (only supports less than a 2GB capacity). Also, its 4GB SDHC cards will allow users to save 2000 to 3000 photos, over 1000 songs, or 7 to 8 hours of MPEG4 video and that its 8GB SDHC cards will allow users to save up to the double of the previous figures.
