Transcend Information has announced today that it has launched the company's latest 2GB high capacity mini SecureDigital (miniSD) flash memory card.

The new Transcend flash card features one of the highest storage capacity of an 80X Ultra-Performance high-speed miniSDTM ever developed, as mobile phones producers, and not only, enhance the specs on their products as they also decrease size.
This is why this new development will represent a success, as it will be almost certain adopted by manufacturers for devices such as the already available Nokia 6270, and 6280.

Transcend miniSD cards include all the standard performances of any SD card, but they present half the size. This is another reason for which Transcend's card will be included on the next generation of multimedia cell phones and mobile devices, which are incorporating miniSD card slots into their design.

But, as the manufacturer wanted to be sure of its new SD card success, it has included an adaptor in order for the miniature flash card to be compatible with any device. The adaptor converts a miniSD card for use in SD card slots and works by placing the smaller memory card into its respective case and treating the card plus adapter as an SD card.

Transcend uses only original SLC (Single-Level-Cell) NAND Flash chips in its 80X miniSD Cards. By testing many digital cameras and mobile phones, which have miniSD or SD card slots, Transcend's 2GB 80X miniSD cards are fully compatible and attain optimal results from your Hi-Tech portable devices.

Technical Details

- About 40% of the size of a standard SD Card, but with the same features and performance
- Perfect for the next generation of mobile phones and portable devices
- miniSDTM adapter allows it to be used in standard SD Card slots
- Adoption of original SLC NAND flash chips
- Compliant with the Secure Digital Music Initiative (SDMI) portable device requirements
