aXeRam DDR3 kit composed of two module with XMP support

Since it seemed to be focusing more on the Flash Storage segment lately, Transcend appears to have decided it was time for a change of tune and, thus, turned its gaze once again towards the memory market. Needless to say, this equates to the launch of a new DDR3 offering, and the company did not shrink from going over the top, at least in some measure. Granted, the newcomer does not even remotely come close to the massive capacity of G.Skill's monstrous 48 GB product, but will no doubt handle most, if not every application and task, overclocking or otherwise, that gamers and enthusiasts have in mind.

The dual-channel kit that will soon start to show up in stores is part of the aXeRam series and made up of a pair of 2GB modules. Both these modules have a fairly groundbreaking frequency of 2,400 MHz and support the Intel XMP (Extreme Memory Profile) specification. Basically, they should not only cope with any game or program, but also enable significant overclocking feats, especially on Intel Core i7 chips, if their owners are thus inclined.

The kit itself has the codename TX2400KLU-4GK and timings of 9-11-9-28. Also, it consumes 1.65V and enables a theoretical bandwidth of up to 38.4GB/s. Performance should increase by 60% in real world applications compared to standard 1333MHz memory. As for the actual design, Transcend used 128Mx8 high-quality DDR3 FBGA chips and robust, JEDEC-compliant PCBs, covered in aluminum heatsinks. Unfortunately, the price has remained undisclosed, but should be revealed soon, considering that the RAM will ship later this month.

“The aXeRam DDR3-2400 dual-channel memory kit has been tested for use on Intel P55-based motherboards, including ASUS P7P55D Premium and ASUS P7P55D Deluxe. Thanks to its use of high thermal efficiency aluminum heat sinks with cooling fins, the kit delivers amazing overclocking performance while maintaining cool temperatures,” states the official announcement.
