IMG=1]Take one famous manufacturer of portable storage solutions (for the sake of the argument, let's say Transcend), and one of their most famous products (for example, the T3). What can the respective company do in order to further boost its product's sales,
not to mention refreshing the customers' attention? Well, issue a model "wearing" a different color, of course.
This is exactly what the people over at Transcend have decided to do with their T3 model, which is now also available in black (beside the original, white version). However, the change of color hasn't brought about any changes in the overall design of this very tiny portable storage solution, which is still roughly the size of a fingernail (30.3mm x 12.3mm x 2.4mm), while weighing just around 2 grams.
According to the company, unlike other miniature USB flash drives which are fragile and bend or break easily, the extra-rugged JetFlash T3 is more solid and robust than even full-sized flash drives. This is possible due to the fact that the drive has been manufactured using Transcend's special COB (Chip On Board) technique that molds the flash memory chip and circuit board into the driver's unbreakable polycarbonate casing, making the T3 virtually amazingly rigid and durable.
Furthermore, the T3 provides quite enough storage space for such a tiny form factor, as it is available in 1 and 2 GB versions. Additionally, users can also download and install the JetFlash elite data management tools, which provide an enhanced level of functionality. Thus, the software suite includes security applications (256-bit AES Encryption), back-up tools and also the PC Lock feature, which allows the drive to be turned into a "hardware access key" to one's computer.
Although pricing details have not been provided, the black version of the T3 will probably retail for pretty much the same prices as the white version, namely around $12 for 1GB and $19 for the 2GB model.
