TransGaming reps have confirmed in an interview that they plan to port two major game franchises over to the Mac this year. The company is also working hard to ensure Lion compatibility with its most popular games.

Although they declined to provide specific titles and release dates, TransGaming promises Mac versions of two major game franchises for the remainder of the year. They’ll be using their Cider porting technology, as usual.

“There are a number of upcoming Mac titles that will be released this year that use TransGaming's Mac enablement technology,” one of the representatives said, in an interview with Inside Mac Games.

“Unfortunately, due to confidentiality agreements we cannot give specifics yet. But we are confident that the Mac community will truly embrace these long-awaited major releases, including Mac versions of two major game franchises,” this person said.

I’d speculate that at least one of those two franchises is Battlefield, of which the third major installment is making its way onto PCs and consoles this fall.

The slated release date is October 25, 2011 for Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360. EA Mobile, for their part, have confirmed a port for Apple’s iOS-based devices.

Another possibility is The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, a role-playing game being developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks.

As the fifth installment in the series (following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion), the game is set to arrive on Windows PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.

The next original IP from TransGaming Studios will be announced this fall, they said. Mac gamers are instructed to check regularly with the TransGaming website for announcements on upcoming releases.

The studio was more willing to speak about the successful release of KULA BLOX: “TransGaming's Studio Division is continuing to create additional content for the game,” the rep said.

In light of the recent Sims 3 update to add OS X Lion compatibility, IMG asked whether TransGaming has plans to give other titles the same treatment.

As expected, the company confirmed that it is “[working] closely with publishers to ensure the titles using TransGaming's Mac enablement technology live up to their expectations. As such, we are continually improving compatibility with all versions of Apple's OS X,” the representative added.
