Enhanced support for iPods on the road

There are a lot of devices available to help you use your iPod in your car and connect it to your vehicle's sound system to play your favorite tracks. No matter if the connection is wired or wireless, such accessories are not something out of the ordinary, and since these iPod connectivity kits have started to be present as a standard feature in many cars produced last year and, of course, in 2007 models, I can conclude that things are headed the right way for everybody. However, despite all that, something's still missing...

The iPods capable of playing video files didn't appear yesterday, and the same can be said about car video systems. Got the idea? It seems that Digital Lifestyle Outfitters got that too, so they announced a product to fill the empty space. Its name is TransDock, and uses the same patented technology included in the TransPod, a product that won a lot of awards so far and, most importantly, the hearts of a lot of customers.

Of course that the Macworld is not a place to go with old products, change their shape, name and add some minor improvements and say "Look! We have a brand new product here!", so what we have from DLO is a brand new product that is based on the TransPod but extends its features a lot, adding the ability to play videos using the car's mobile video system while the soundtrack is transmitted to the car stereo.

The TransDock requires no installation, so you can move it from car to car without problems, the integrated antenna allows for even stronger iPod transmission, the built in USB connection lets you charge your cell phone or other electronic device, and the four assignable presets and indigo blue backlit LCD will give your driver life a new meaning. At last, let's not forget about the two interchangeable faceplates included into the package, while additional ones can be purchased online.

At this time, the TransDock is available for preorder, its price is 99.99$, and shipping will begin in March.
