Trainer Jillian Michaels is the latest public figure to team up with PETA and protest the fact that carriages drawn by horses can still be seen on streets in New York.

Jillian and the animal rights activists maintain that these horses are more often than not kept in very small stables by their owners.

Because they don't have enough room to move freely, they sooner or later develop various health conditions.

To make matters even worse, they are made to pull carriages for several hours in a row.

Needless to say, their pacing up and down city streets further affects their health. This is because they spend a lot of time inhaling traffic fumes.

Jillian also explains that it often happens that these horses get hit by cars, and end up suffering severe injuries, Ecorazzi tells us.

The way the trainer sees things, “NYC’s carriage horses are the biggest losers.”

One can only hope that her and PETA’s message will be heard by the right ears, and that the city’s officials will soon agree to help these animals.
