You know her from the Biggest Loser as the take-no-nonsense-type of trainer, for which reason she also has a reputation for being tough and occasionally mean. However, celebrity personal trainer Jillian Michaels is also very honest about her body hang-ups and, it turns out, very tough on herself too.

Michaels is featured on the cover of the latest issue of Shape magazine, looking as fit and healthy as ever. In the accompanying interview, she opens up about her least favorite body part and how it’s helped her realize that even a fitness fanatic like herself can’t have it all in terms of getting the “perfect” body.

The thought that comes to mind now goes something along the lines of, “if Michaels is a personal trainer and she says she doesn’t have a perfect body, what hope is there for us normal folks?!” However, that’s not why the star is saying these things, but rather as a means to make herself more relatable, by telling people that, not even with fitness, you can’t really get everything you want in life.

Apparently, Michaels hates her derriere because that’s the part of the body where she tends to store the excess weight. Some women tend to gain and store those extra pounds in the upper part of the body; Michaels is the opposite of that.

“We all store fat somewhere… I carry all my weight in my lower body. No matter how lean I get or how many squats or lunges I do, I always feel like my butt carries extra weight. But what I realized is that you can’t have it all,” she tells the publication.

Still, she loves her abs, her strong arms and her back, all of which she works both in and outside the gym. Her abdominal muscles are in such a great shape that Jillian says she’s “lucky” she can tone them in a very short time, mostly by doing all kinds of planks.

“My best reason for having strong arms is because I love to pick up my kids,” the trainer continues. “I love having a strong back. Metaphorically speaking, it means I can carry a lot of responsibility on my shoulders – and I do – for my family, friends and fans.”

In the same interview, Jillian reveals that turning 40 sent her in complete panic mode at the thought that she’d already lived half her life. All those crazy thoughts went away when she realized that, at 40, she actually looked better and felt healthier and happier than she did when she was 30 or even 20.
