From the writer of “The Notebook” comes another tearjerker on the big screen

He's definitely miles away from his “High School Musical” days: looking buffer and more handsome than ever, Zac Efron is a Marine looking for the woman who saved his life in Iraq in the new trailer for “The Lucky One.”

Not a stranger to strong feelings and heartbreak after last year's “Charlie St. Cloud,” Efron takes yet another step to distance himself from the teen heartthrob image Disney helped him build.

“The Lucky One” should do the job. Efron plays Iraq veteran Logan, who comes back home with one purpose in mind: to find the woman whose photo basically saved his life.

She is Beth (Taylor Schilling), a slender blonde with an abusive ex and an adorably curly son. As expected, Logan falls for her so hard he can't reveal to her why he went out looking for her in the first place.

Again as expected, the trailer includes plenty of shots of Efron's bulked up physique, including an extended love scene, which is bound to get his female fans all in a flurry.

These being said, one can only hope all ends well for Logan and Beth.

“The Lucky One” is out in theaters on April 20, 2012.
