Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon had amazing chemistry in the critically acclaimed Johnny Cash and June Carter biopic “Walk the Line,” and we’re bound to see them together again on the big screen in the upcoming “Inherent Vice,” which has just gotten a brand new trailer.

“Vice” is based on a novel by Thomas Pynchon and is directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, who previously helmed such hits as “Boogie Nights,” “Magnolia,” “There Will Be Blood,” and “The Master.” If that’s not enough to sell you the movie before you even see the trailer, let me just add that Phoenix and Witherspoon are only 2 of the many great actors appearing in it.

The cast also includes Benicio Del Toro, Josh Brolin, Owen Wilson, Jena Malone, Maya Rudolph, Eric Roberts, and Martin Short, while singer / songwriter Joanna Newsom narrates the entire film.

Described as “part surf noir, part psychedelic romp” in the official synopsis, “Inherent Vice” tells the story of Doc Sportello, a private eye who is contracted by his former girlfriend to investigate a possible plot to kidnap her current boyfriend, a billionaire land developer, and “throw him in the looney bin,” concocted by the billionaire’s wife and her secret lover.

Doc requires help for the investigation and he turns to LA’s finest but, in the process, he stumbles into even more trouble than he ever imagined possible.

As Joanna announces in the trailer, “Inherent Vice” will be out in December, just in time for Christmas. It does look like perfect entertainment for the holiday season: a little bit of mystery, a bit of action and lots of humor and (hopefully) exceptional acting from all these big names.

So tell me, do you plan on seeing it in theaters when it drops?
