Chris Farraday (Mark Wahlberg) is not someone you want to mess with, even if he may seem like a typical family guy. The first trailer for the action-packed “Contraband” has finally hit the net.

Fresh off a series of critical hits, Wahlberg returns to that which he does best: action films. In “Contraband,” he plays a former mobster forced to return to his wicked ways when the lives of his wife and kids are threatened.

Directed by Baltasar Kormákur Samper, who starred and produced the original film, “Reykjavic-Rotterdam,” “Contraband” is set in San Diego and will include all elements of a pure-breed action flick: explosions, drugs, thugs and an extra side dish revenge, which, as always, is best served cold.

The film also stars a blonde Kate Beckinsale as Farraday’s wife, and the always entertaining Giovanni Ribisi, who brings a delicious dose of insanity to his mobster role.

“Contraband” is out in theaters on January 13, 2012.
