Demi Lovato has been through hell – and back – in just a couple of years. After receiving help for an array of issues including an eating disorder, cutting herself and self-esteem problems, she is back and ready to help others.

Below, you will see the first trailer for the documentary that will air on MTV next month, called simply “Stay Strong.”

Shot in August last year, the film will see Demi struggling to stay afloat and to continue battling her demons one day at a time.

She knows she's not healed yet, but she also knows that, by speaking out, she could probably help many other young girls in the same situation.

“I never thought that I’d be a role model. When I first started in the industry, everyone just kind of made me a role model. And I hated that,” Demi is seen saying in the trailer.

Things have changed: now, the pop star wants to be a role model but, above all, she wants to give hope to other girls who might be dealing with the same issues she once had.

“I’m not fixed. This is a daily battle but I continue to work my butt off because now I want to be a legitimate role model,” she says.
