The video above is the first official trailer for “McCanick,” the final movie of actor Cory Monteith, who died of a drug and alcohol overdose last month. The film will premiere at TIFF this year.

As you can see for yourself, the role is miles apart from the clean and relatable character that made Monteith a household name, that of Finn Hudson on Fox’s musical series “Glee.”

Simon Weeks is a drug addict who is fresh out of prison: he carries heavy baggage, including a secret that would not serve his arresting officer, played by the always brilliant David Morse, to have out in the open.

The cop goes on a wild chase after Weeks, with the ultimate goal of silencing him for good.

The trailer doesn’t offer more specifics but it’s edited in such a way as to make you want to come back for more. As noted above, “McCanick” will premiere at TIFF and hopefully be picked up for distribution afterwards.
