Berbie has released a new update for users of its route-planning application, TrailRunner. The latest version available (1.9.341) adds a new workout importer for Garmin devices like the Edge or Colorado that can mount as a USB mass storage volume, a new optional diary column to the diary table and more.

TrailRunner is aimed at sports dealing with long-distance traveling, such as running, biking, hiking, and inline-skating. The app can calculate a route for the desired distance, and export directions onto the user's iPod. This way, users get detailed orientation, while keeping the workout going. In recent releases, the company introduced the ability to display collected workout data within the program, matching the recordings with routes created by users. TrailRunner integrates with nikeplus.com, the online community for the Nike SportBand, and the Apple Nike+ iPod Sport Kit running devices.

As mentioned above, the changelog for TrailRunner 1.9.341 reveals that Berbie has added a new workout importer for Garmin devices like the Edge or Colorado that can mount as a USB mass storage volume. According to the developer, users must select the new importer in Application Preferences in order to benefit from this addition.

Also better is the startup performance for the diary window, Berbie says, with many entries contained. The company added a new optional diary column to the diary table as well. As a user, you must select a different diary to move entries in-between.

When you import workouts with the Garmin ANT importer, TrailRunner now detects whether your device has GPS data available or not and accordingly displays either the "workouts with course importer" or the "workout with assigned routes importer". Three more improvements are listed as such: · Better: Split at selection now only splits and does nothing more. · Better: Reworked map loading performance. · Better: Improved the selection and focus behaviour when switching between modes.

As for the bugs fixed in TrailRunner 1.9.341, Berbie claims to have resolved a problem with the Garmin Training Center Importer opening the wrong importer pane, and also removed the "nothing new to import" alert if you try to add a diary entry that already existed. Instead, the existing entry is being selected after the import is done, Berbie says. Additional bug fixes are also listed (read full changelog).
