TrailRunner, an application targeting long distance runners, has been updated to version 1.8.277 (Beta) delivering an Export as TCX command to export a list of routes and a new toolbar item that makes the export directly accessible (for user convenience).

TrailRunner is aimed at sports dealing with long distance traveling. Runners, bikers, hikers, inline-skaters or skiers can use the free software to determine how long, or how effective their workouts are and what routes work best for them. TrailRunner can also calculate a route for your desired distance and export directions onto your iPod. This way, you get a detailed orientation while keeping the workout going.

With the release of version 1.7, Berbie's route planning software offered users the ability to display their collected workout data within the program, which matches the recordings with routes created by the user. It analyzes the user's performance with its own tools. The same version release added integration with nikeplus.com, the online community for the Nike SportBand, and the Apple Nike iPod Sport Kit running devices.

Key features of TrailRunner include

Nike iPod Sport Kit - Import workouts and assign routes with real world distances. Running - Plan workout routes and check your pace at checkpoints. Biking - Import and analyze GPS recordings. Personal Notes - Annotate your tracks with descriptions, colors and the famous iTunes rating stars. NanoMaps - Export route descriptions as NanoMaps for iPods or cellphones. Heart Rate Monitors - Import and manage GPX or Polar HRM workout protocols. Languages - Available in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Swedish and traditional Chinese. Route Planning - Interactively or automatically, for a given distance and with the highest attractiveness.

The newly-added option to Export list of routes as TCX lets users copy this file onto their devices, provided they own a Garmin Edge. Also new is a toolbar item which makes the export directly accessible. Right-click the toolbar to customize it.

TrailRunner can be downloaded here for free. The app requires Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or later and is a Universal Binary.
